The village and parish of Little Paxton in Huntingdonshire.

Little Paxton is one of the parishes of the District of Huntingdonshire, whose administrative centre is Huntingdon, the other principle towns being St Ives home of the Chapel on the Bridge, St Neots the largest town in the County of Cambridgeshire, the Roman town of Godmanchester and Ramsey site of the former Abbey.

Little Paxton is located on the eastern side of the A1 Great North Road a few miles to the north of Eaton Socon and the town of St Neots. Until the 1940's Little Paxton was just a tiny hamlet, home to a Norman church, an Elizabethan house called Paxton Hall and a handful of other houses and cottages. Today (2010) the village of Little Paxton is larger than Great Paxton, is home to several thousand families and still manages to support its own Post Office, a village stores and a public house; The Anchor Inn.

Paxton Hall, a Grade II listed building, was constructed in 1738 with additions and alterations of the 18th and 19th centuries. It was converted into its current function as a care home for the elderly in the early 1980's.

The eastern side of Little Paxton is bounded by the River Great Ouse and numerous gravel pits most of which are now closed to extraction and have been converted into the Paxton Pits Nature Reserve.

To the south of Little Paxton and its boundary with the town of St Neots was located Little Paxton Paper Mill. There have been river mills of one sort or another on this site since Domesday but major development in 1799 and the installation in 1807 of a new and much improved Fourdrinier paper making machine designed and built in Bermondsey by the engineer, Bryan Donkin, started the production of paper and allied products that would continue on and off until after the severe floods of 1988 closed the mill for good. The mill site was sold for redevelopment and is now a collection of modern houses and apartments.
